I loved this. Too, great timing to rescue my deteriorating mood. It's the first feeling of positiveness to enter my chest since November's tragic loss.
Glad to be of service. Keep your head up and look for the helpers, in the words of Mr. Rogers. We need each other, and to battle despair. That's what the bastards want!
You're right, and I will. Only time for politically positive friends and action. My Substack search for facts, honesty, goodness and clear writing led me here. "despair... Thats what the bastards want!" That's true. Now it's my battle-mantra. Thank you.
A Brit in Macon from 1970-1976 drawn by its exuberance for music, the baptism into racism and hegemony was certainly mitigated when the Carters appeared to stand up against Machine gun Ronnie Thompson (mayor) who declared a curfew. After the life I had in Swinging London culture shock is underrated for what four of us experienced in Macon. Carter pulled the town forward. It took decades and an unsuccessful Music Hall of Fame to change the town long after the tragedies when both Duane Allman and Berry Oakley left this world.
This is one of my favorite stories about Jimmy Carter ♥️
Fascinating. And brings back memories of some of the best music ever.

What a great story. Our world could use a few more like President Carter.
Thanks. :)
