Thanks for this. He's my favourite musician and this is the best interview of him I've ever read.

Was there ever a self-taught guitarist as wondrously talented as James Taylor? Combine that guitar style with that voice, and throw in monster songwriting talent, and you've got one of the 1970s most bankable stars. And his live shows, particularly those at Cleveland's Blossom Music Center, were a summertime staple. Thanks for this terrific interview: Long live JT! --Matt Amsden

Great Interview. The first concert I ever saw was James Taylor . I was 13 years old and my Mom made me wear a sweater and nice pants. Boy did I look out of place. The show took place in the original McCormic Place in Chicago. It burned down some time later and has been replaced by two other entertainment venues on either side of Lake Shore Drive. I'll never forget when James did "Steam Roller Blues." and starting causing like a drunken sailor! Looking forward to your next book for sure...

Thank you and that's quite a story. I'd give anything for a photo of 13 year old in you in your sweater and nice pants.

james taylor really delivered the goods in this interview and the chuck leavell factoid adds to my understanding of his climb to top of the ladder
