RIP to a cultural giant, among the greatest college basketball players ever, one of the Grateful Dead's biggest fans and he only figure who made sense in both my writing worlds: Slam and Guitar World.
Ahh, such a cool, anchored guy with total self-awareness. Excellent piece! Was any analyst more verbose during a game? Ha! I loved seeing Walton coming off the bench during his classic Celtic years. On a team with superior talent, his Wooden "team" reference couldn't be more appropriate. And his comment about learning from the past, not living in it, is so good! Another talented and complex but intrinsically soulful human gone too soon.
Another great Alan Paul interview, providing insight into someone I didn't know that much about, and at the same time, offering inspiration. RIP Bill Walton.
