Alan, Once again an excellent interview of an ionic artist that shaped the music of the 60/70’s . In watching the documentary by Crowe of Crosby it was refreshing seeing him admit his failings and his look into the near future. My first large outdoor concert was CSNY, Santana and Jesse Colin Young on 8/9/74 the day Richard Nixon resigned from the Presidency in Atlantic City, NJ . They were exuberant n gave a great performance despite the violent thunderstorm during the opening acts .CSN each performed wearing an Eagles, Flyers and Phillies jersey while Neil wore a white Suit . They apparently wore hometown pro sports Jerseys throughout the tour. Later as many band members and insiders admitted it was a drug induced tour with financial mismanagement and ultimately CSNY was never-the same afterwards . RIP David .

Thanks for sharing... that 74 tour was massive and Allmans were supposed to play 2 LA Coliseum shows with them... that story is in the upcoming book!

Great stuff Al as always and thanks for the inside info. I read David's bio many years ago so his serious drug issues were not exactly news. I'm actually quite shocked that David made it to 81 years old.

Thx for the great write up and read. I’m the youngest of 5 children growing up during the late 60’s and 70’s. The absolute greatest music was made during that time period and David Crosby was a definitive influence to say the least. I’m forever grateful…andy spi tx.

Please fact-check me, but I think "Ohio" was sent to radio stations 4-5 days after Kent State. An astonishingly short time. #RIPDavid

I thought so, too, but am fairly certain I fact-checked this extensively at the time. It's been 3 years, a pandemic and a lot of written words since, but I'm pretty sure about that.

He had a beautiful voice. I saw the movie and remember this article. I guess it’s not a real surprise, but we are quickly losing the first generation of rock musicians. Sad, but no one lives forever ( although Croz seemed to have nine lives-lol).
