This was a beautiful and moving tribute. You are so lucky to have gotten to share so much time with a hero, and the fact that he seems to have been in real-life a high quality, classy human being makes it that much better. I was living within walking distance from Words book store in 2015 and I'm disappointed that I didn't know about this book event back then! Now I love to read your frequent posts and blog pieces and feel fortunate to be informed about all the great upcoming musical events-especially the local ones. We have tickets for SOMA Rocks tomorrow, otherwise I would have been at 'Friends show with Jaimoe. I hope to catch the one in Englewood in the Spring.

Such a beautiful, raw tribute to an amazing human being. My husband, who is first a drummer but also a multi-instrumentalist, and I were so honored to hear The Freight Train Band in Tallahassee. Butch was working with young musicians from FSU, mentoring them in the best way possible, and they were on stage with him. It truly was a night to remember!
