During the middle of a show, late 80s or early 90s, Buddy, in his overalls, took a few minutes to imitate 6 or 8 other players, like Clapton, Jeff Beck, SRV, and of course, Jimi, and nailed every one, just for fun.

He is truly gifted. His collaborations with Junior Wells were phenomenal.

Thanks for sharing these old articles and interviews.

My husband was at the show tonight and I’ll be at this weekend’s shows! I love that TTB books these blues legends. Bonnie Raitt was amazing down at the Florida shows.

My one time to photograph Buddy was also in 1986. Got to do a quick portrait of him with Jr. Wells in a club one afternoon while they were doing sound check. I dropped by because I had to work and miss the show that night. . . to my everlasting regret. Still, I got that portrait.

This was a terrific interview. I think Guy's version of "Feels Like Rain" is the best John Hiatt cover out there. Have seen him several times but never met or interviewed him.

Side note: I felt fortunate to meet and become friends with Charles Brown for the past decade of his life and to interview B.B. King in 1991. If you get the chance at some point, give those pieces a read:

Fantastic. Will check them out. I loved Charles Brown and the great guitarist Danny Caron (?). Saw them several times.
