Bonnie Raitt has done more to uplift the musicians she admires than most, respectfully and artistically keeping their memories alive. I was fortunate to meet her in person twice because of my friendship with Charles Brown, ironically the first time the day after she performed “Amazing Grace” with Browne and Stevie Wonder at SRV’s funeral. She was as gracious and kind (and profane) as you could ever hope. Nice piece!
Have not seen it. Will read. Thanks. Bonnie is the best. I sent this to her manager, who wrote back a few days later with a thank you from Bonnie, who read and appreciated my thoughts.
I would have loved to have been at that show! Bonnie is golden as a musician and human. I first saw her at the Berkeley Community Theater in the late 70’s and have followed her ever since. Thank you, this made my day!
Great read . Seen Jimmie and Bonnie many times but not together. 1989 Center Stage with Richard Thompson solo and Bonnie with just Johnny Lee Schell was etched in my memory. First time seeing Richard and the encore Dimming of the Day

Thanks Glenn. I loved Charles Brown and saw him several times. Danny Caron also such a tasty guitarist. Is he still with us?
Yes. Still teaching in Berkeley. Not sure if you ever saw my piece on Brown that includes that encounter. It’s here: https://glenncook.substack.com/p/the-legacy-of-charles-brown

What a beautiful show.
Love Bonnie Raitt, esp her early bluesy albums. Saw her 1st time at Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh ( while in college)!
She is a treasure. Breaks my heart every time I am home in Pittsburgh and drive by the parking lot that used to be the Syria Mosque.
Wow, those two together are like a solar collision of talent. Much envy.
:)
