Grahame Lesh has a lot going on. He is fronting his own excellent longtime band, Midnight North and helping keep the Grateful Dead legacy created in by part by his father Phil in a variety of projects, including the Terrapin Roadshow, Jerry Garcia Symphonic Experience, and Grahame Lesh and Friends, which follows the rotating band template Phil followed for years with Phil and Friends.
You can keep up with it all and track his dates with all the various projects at his website here,
On a personal note, I met Grahame when he and his brother Brian were two-head kids playing catch backstage at Phil and Friends shows around 2000 and have watched him grow into an excellent guitarist and bandleader and now have the courage to pick up his father’s basses to boot. I got to know Grahame and his lovely wife better over a few days in Barcelona circa 2018.
Enjoy the interview, and go check out Grahame with one of his many projects.
Brothers and Sisters: the Allman Brothers Band and The Album That Defined The 70s was my third straight book to debut in the New York Times Non-Fiction Hardcover Bestsellers List, following Texas Flood: The Inside Story of Stevie Ray Vaughan and One Way Out: The Inside History of the Allman Brothers Band. My first book was Big in China: My Unlikely Adventures Raising a Family, Playing the Blues and Becoming a Star in Beijing, about my experiences raising a family in Beijing and touring China with a popular original blues band. It was optioned for a movie by Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Productions. I am also a guitarist and singer who fronts two bands, Big in China and Friends of the Brothers, the premier celebration of the Allman Brothers Band.
