Garcia and Hunter were the only absolutely irreplaceable members of the Grateful Dead, IMO.

I'm not saying the others weren't a great addition to the band, But without Garcia and Hunter, forget about it!

What a great wonder and gift that these partcular musicians and poets met and created a soundtrack still kicking ass 60 years later.

One typo — John Kahn. If you fix you can feel free to delete this note. 🙂

Thanks. Will fix. Was just listening to JGB and admiring John’s playing.

And I’ve been listening to Old & in the Way and forgot he was in that too. Sure wish I’d gone to more JGB shows.

Me too! They were going strong years after the GD seemed like a mess.

Very true! Kean College 2/28/80 (“After Midnight”) is note perfect imo. Including the Hunter set.

I was a latecomer to the Dead but have always been curious about Hunter. Didn’t he spend a lot of time in Wyoming on a family ranch?

Thanks for the clarity on that.

It's amazing how various artists craft songs in such divergent ways.
